Prevent ratholing or caking during grain or aggregate unloading with material flow aids
Applied Conveyor Technology, Inc. (ACT Group) has several options of industrial vibrators and motors for material flow aids to help dislodge stuck-on dry aggregates, grains, and other granular materials. We have solutions for every application including electric and air-powered (pneumatic) products. Some options are portable with an easy click removal, and others require a ball and hitch functionality. Our material flow aid solutions are designed to be easy-to-use without sacrificing durability, safety, and versatility. The main goal of using industrial electric or pneumatic vibrators is to help increase production.
Storage vessels are notorious for having stuck materials when being emptied. Common problems resulting in poor flow and losing usable material include:
Ratholing is when the material flows directly in the center release area but leaves behind a residue on sidewalls circumferentially. This can also be a sign of segregation, which is where density plays a role in how the material flows out. The finer particles may concentrate under the point of impact below the hopper outlet, while the thicker particles will roll off to the sides, or the periphery.
In contrast, a caking effect is when dry materials are exposed to moisture or air causing the let behind residue to become sticky or stiff. This begins to create arching or bridging with material flow aids. Bridging is most common with hopper outlets, and it is when the dry materials interlock and form an obstruction above the hopper outlet and stop flow.
Industrial vibrators can be added to your bins, silos, hoppers, railcars, and conveyor systems to keep the dry particulates from separating or coagulating when exposed to air, misting, or change of temperature. Choose your level of vibratory force anywhere from 1,000 to 16,500 pounds to improve unloading processes. This is just one of many ways that the ACT Group is dedicated to improving productivity at your manufacturing or construction site.
We also provide a wide array of industrial electric and pneumatic motors that are compatible with your vibratory system to keep your processes moving without delay. We have industrial vibration motors in both 12- or 24-volt operation. Some motors even perform at low frequencies for quieter operation without sacrificing high-output.
